The city purchased the water because we were being ripped off by SSU as the cash cow to cover their less affluent communities. But, we still pay 15-30% more that most of our neighbors. It looks like we are now the cash cow for the City of Marco. Plus they also want to raise taxes according to another article. Those of us still under the hill and working for a living cannot last much longer.

Tucker headed the group that recomended the law firm with the travel expense knowing he only had a few months left, now he comes in with a lower bid when he is off the council and those he backed are on it? Sounds like a set up to me. Do these people think we are all stupid?

"dogs will still be prohibited from all city playgrounds... athletic fields."
Winterberry Park is one large athletic field, it is not just the ball field. The entire grass area is used by the YMCA for soccer, flag football, and more, as well as the Baptist Church youth groups on Wednesdays. Kids spend alot of time rolling in this grass. Any area that hosts youth activities should be prohibited.

Strike3: The money you give does not go to the Collier School Board. By State statute, money collected by local taxes go to the State and then re-disputed by them to all counties in Florida. Collier County gets very little back compared to other counties in Florida. Wealthy counties like Collier, Dade and Sarasota subsidize the less affluent counties. Even if you started your own school district on the island, you would get no more from your taxes that you get now.

Maybe someone can explain this to me. I recieved my proposed tax bill today for next year and the county tax went down almost 10%. School taxes even went down a couple dollars even though they did not have to under the legislation to lower taxes. But, the City of Marco taxes changed by only $.80. That is less than 1/2%. That is also after a $100,000 loss in value. Something does not add up. Of course that also does not include the sewer installation loan that will be assesed this year and the next 20 years on my tax bill.

Below is what I wrote in a blog here on June 22nd about an earlier story about the election change to November. Looks like exactly what I said would happen has happened. No matter what side you are on, anyone with any intellegance can not look at this and say it is right.

"capt1black (anonymous) at 12:13 p.m. on 6-22-07"

"The July meeting was cancelled at the last meeting, but they left open the need for a special meeting. I would not be surprised if they try to hold a "special" meeting in July when some of the councilors (those opposed to the November change) are out of town.
One minute Mr. Moss said the date can not be changed to January, even if it saved money, due to the city charter. Then all of a sudden he says it is ok to change it to save money. O wait, I have a new idea. Why don’t we change it to November to save even more money? This was not discussed before today by anyone; it just popped into our heads. Give me a break.
No matter what side of the issues you are on, this just stinks of political back door maneuvering. If they honestly believe that the majority of the Island is behind them, than what are they afraid of? Have the election in January and let the people decide what council they want."

I have had insurance through 3 different companies over my work life. The insurance with CCPS is the worst I have ever had. Yes, the employee may not pay weekly in premiums, but they pay in the end if they ever need it. I had better coverage making $5/hr for a hotel than I have now.

Get a refund for the fireworks. I had a great view of the 20 minute show from South Beach. Unfourtunatly, it was the Naples fireworks I saw most. The begining was great, but did someone hit the end show button by accident? 12 minutes was not even worth my time to find a parking spot and walk to the beach. if I missed the rest of the show after waiting for 10 minutes, thinking this can not be all, please correct me. If not, get your refund. only on Marco.
