that is correct OUR CITY IS RIPPING OFF THE CITIZENS OF MARCO.. The city should give the franchise tax that we have all paid since 2004 to LCEC to pay for what it was intended for. NOT PROFIT FOR OUR CITY! Our we all fools who live here to allow our city to continue to milk us dry!

Hey you can't fight City Hall! Hall and Neylon tried.. I guess Neylon and Hall were smart to leave our very expensive (getting more expensive every day!) paradise. Our profitable City wants the Electric Company. How sad for all of us! We will get charged premium ... just like out city owned (profitable) water company. The city has already made up its mind.. this is just the necessary steps to go through to condemn Lee Electic. For the record, Lee Electric has been a wonderful company servicing our island very efficient and even in serious hurricane weather- electric was restored within a 1-2 days on the entire island. We are not charged at Marco premium (which our City wants the money) and we are paying -like all the other citys that Lee Electric services- correctly. No other City has a problem with Lee Electric but Marco does! amazing isn't us. Everyone on this island (who can not afford all these rate hikes with our profitable city) needs to fight this takeover. but as the saying goes... you can't fight city hall.and Lee County Electric is doomed. Our city has already decided that they want this utility for more profit.

If EVERYONE was to DEFER The payment for 20 YEARS the City would not be hurrying to get our Island sewered. The money would run dry for this expensive ( highly city profitable ) project. I urge everyone to DEFER THE PAYMENT FOR 20 YEARS!
We did not need our neighborhoods torn up and the end sewage will be treated and end up in our canals. The Septic tanks kept the sewage contained in sand, and worked fine in all of our neighborhoods. We have Sewers because it is a nice huge city profit project and we are in a recession with many families losing homes and foreclosures while the city takes more money from all of us! Profit Profit that is the name of our Marco City.

John Arceri is the first council- past councilor (appointed-not elected). It is such a shame that our island councilors to not have the confidence to do the job they were elected to without him! Arceri is the reason that our Marco is ran for a profit as a corporation. Marco is not ran for its longtime citizens. Marco is now ran for profit. There is profit in the electric company. We were blindsided with giving the water company to the city (we are all now paying dearly- for profit!) Do not be a fool and let the for profit- City (ran by Arceri)take over our electric company. LCEC does a great job and even in hurricanes- we have never lost power for over day! lived here for 25 years. Oh by the way.. look back at the first council.. Arceri - did you have anyone running against you? or were you just conveniently able to grab a council seat on a newly formed city government. Please let the snake slither back in its hole and get off our island and out of our affairs permanently. He had his time on council-yet according to the above post- he never has left his seat and controls city.. how unfortunate for the citizens of Marco. it is really a shame that this person controls our city staff! seems not legit? do we really have puppets for Arceri- how unfortunate for Marco. Wake up Hourigan - we have complete chaos!- thanks to Arceri- maybe he can stay on the ballfield and play ball instead of playing with our city hall!

Hey - MARCO POLO - lets see you do better than okay! with the local amount of island kids- one grade school, and one middle school. We have a much more limited supply of children than Naples. I will definitely support you- lets see your results. I am waiting. please do not trash our Y or Park or Middle School until you give our community results. good luck, you have all the parent's support.

Please TicTac do not speak for me, because you are obviously not hearing what I am saying. I made a point that Marco only has a LIMITED amount of children! and that the two places on Marco that cater to these kids - the Marco Y and the Local Park- do a good (decent) job (and I did say-always room for improvement). As a parent, I will support any programs for our youth and kids. Marco Optimist is an idea, I am just wondering if there was any study on the number of kids available locally for such an undertaking- I am just saying that I caution that there are enough kids on this small island (when Naples can barely get the correct enrollment numbers for teams and leagues) to make appropriate teams and challenging enough competion with just a local pool- Marco kids. I don't think that the Marco Optimist will be greater than the Park or the Y- prove me wrong- PLEASE! We take our kids to Naples (quite often) for teams because there are not programs here or enough kids to make the programs competitive. It is that simple- we live on a small island with ONE GRADE SCHOOL AND ONE MIDDLE SCHOOL. By the way, I do not have membership for my kids at the Y- we pay ala cart, as we find programs that work with our kids interest and schedule. Same at the Park- we participate as much as possible to support the local park. By forming a Marco Optimist- it will give our kids another option-if there are enough kids to make teams for competitive games from our local island. Our local park and Y will always be here and there are many families that support both, we are one of those families. Our park, Ymca, and Charter Middle School are here for all of our kids. I would like to see more programs at our local park for our kids, this is a great park and has a wonderful staff. I would also like to say that the above accusations from what I have seen do not necessary hold true- the Charter School has been opened up for the park teams, and dance teams and many other functions that do not relate to the Y. We have attended some of them with our kids. I do not see the reason to bring the Y or the Middle School into a negative mix of starting a new Optimist, unless the agenda is to utilize the school gym- which is usually made avail-by request (to the park, or Y) when not in use by the school. Perhaps the negative attacks are for this agenda. It is very wrong to attack these two individuals (I personally to not know them) and who cares about who is sleeping with who? it is so irrelevant to forming this new youth group and just good old Marco Politics! some things on Marco never change.. please be professional when forming this new youth group and keep the nasties to yourself.

hey there is profit to be made off the back of the marco residents!! our city is not stupid.. we will all pay dearly- the city has already made up its mind to buy our electric company- the profit is great and this is just a procedure for the city to go through to get to its agenda for owning the electic company. We will have no choice in the end. Marco City will take over whatever it can to pad the bank accounts. the fox has already eaten the chickens and is smiling!

Our City is going to price all of us out! We have a new water fee, and now a new fire assessment fee in the works, bridge fees, increased water fees, increased water bills, assessments for sewers..etc, etc, oh.. and the electrical company now they want to buy!!for a profit making machine to be used to suck more money from you! WAKE UP MARCO.. our city is ran as a business FOR A PROFIT!! IT IS COMMING OUT OF OUR POCKETS,it was nickle and dimes and now we are talking big dollars! If you keep voting in the incompetent councils that you do,we will all be moving off the island. Very few will be able to remain here! WAKE UP. If you care about Marco- put some responsible individuals that care about your pockets.. not city profit in office to represent you.

On Marco residents may soon see a new fee on water utility bills

You can make your case to City Hall.. but there is an old saying that holds pretty true on Marco- "You can't Fight City Hall" Our City will listen to your complaints but will do as they intended to do with none or very few changes. Good Luck, you have our best wishes.

I agree with freedomofspeech1, the Optimist will never compete with Travel Ball or real competition. The kids get better by playing other areas and teams - NOT JUST MARCO KIDS. Do we really have enough local Marco kids to make up competitive teams to play each other. I don't think so, the Marco YMCA could Not put together even basketball leagues for kids 11/12 or 13/14- they did offer this program last year- but not enough kids or teams- MARCO HAS A LIMITED AMOUNT OF YOUTH FOR THESE TEAMS! Naples is a much larger area with many pools of kids to sign up and they still have problems getting enough kids to participate for local teams at the Naples Ymca and Optimist,Colier Parks, etc. I know my kids have participated both on Marco and in Naples on YMCA teams, Collier Parks and Optimist teams, all of these programs (Naples and Marco) complain about attendance and usually have to include younger ages to keep programs running. I am for supporting any new programs for our youth for Marco, I feel our local Park and Ymca does a good job,(always room for improvement) and we have our children in programs with both. The new forming Optimist, may not have enough kids to compete or make enough teams. Shame on the personal attacks of two individuals that help our community, we have a great middle school, wonderful park and the local Ymca does okay- I say make our park and Ymca better by supporting the local programs so they continue. Our kids use our Ymca and local park almost daily!
