How are you counteracting the inflated gasoline prices?

"It has no significance whatsoever for me, because it costs me about $3 a week to fill up my vehicle. When I go into the 7-Eleven and ask the assistant to put $3 on pump whatever, she laughs at me, and then I point to my little red scooter. It’s a Yamaha 50cc, and I’ve seen a lot more of them recently. I’m amazed that a place like Florida doesn’t use solar power yet. They’ve had solar-powered car races in the deserts of Australia and Africa for at least 20 years."

"Obviously you drive less, but I bought a Toyota Prius (hybrid) which gives the best gas mileage on the highway of about 45 miles a gallon. In the city I’ve been getting 30 to 35 mpg. It runs on electricity for the first 10 miles and hour, and then kicks in with gas. In the future, I hope we go back to some exploration of other fuel alternatives such as solar, wind and water. In the meantime you just have to drive a little less and a little smarter."

"I used to have no problem going to school, but now I make sure I only go to Naples once a day. It’s looking like a motorcycle may be the way to save on gas. I was in the market for a new truck a couple of months ago for a full-size, but that’s not going to happen. I’m definitely going to downsize. It seems like they already have things solved with hybrids and electrics, but I just don’t understand why they’re not doing it. I guess it’s something to do with the government and the gas companies. It’s a little suspicious to me."
