The Marco Island Charter Middle School boys cross country team is on a roll, or is it a very fast run?
The boys won their second straight meet, the First Baptist Academy Invitational, on Saturday.
The girls also did well, finishing fourth overall.
“The course was a true cross country course and was very challenging,” Coach Roger Raymond said. “The field was strong, with La Belle from Hendry County being exceptionally deep on both teams.”
In a hot and humid morning, the top five Charter boys, running in a pack, finished in the top 12. Stefan Langebeeke raced to fifth; Tanner Fulcher, seventh; Noah Konkus, eighth; Cooper Fulcher, ninth and Buck Reinders, 12th. In cross country meets the top five runners’ finishes count. Jimmy Fleming raced well, finishing 15th.
Christy Thorstenson led the girls with a fifth-place finish. The other top five girls were Lexie Lundquist, Sierra Rose, Amanda Marinaro, and Christina Tiemkiewitz.
The Charter teams are in action Friday at Community School of Naples, beginning at 4:15 p.m.
