MICA: Informative talk scheduled with Clerk of Court

Collier County Clerk of Court Dwight Brock will visit our fair island Oct. 21.

Brock takes his position as a public servant very seriously. As Clerk of Court one of his main duties is to ensure that your tax dollars are spent as intended and contracted. It is good to know that in Collier County the Clerk’s office is watching various aspects of government spending. To that end, Brock will update you with the latest information regarding the lawsuit he filed to protect the taxpayers of Collier County.

The Clerk’s role is defined by the Florida Constitution of 1838 and Florida Statutes to ensure a critical system of “checks and balances” to protect and serve the citizens and taxpayers of the county by making sure that all taxpayer dollars are spent lawfully. In this difficult economic time in which we live, it is reassuring to know that our Clerk of Court is working for us, the taxpayers.

The services offered on www.collierclerk.com are growing almost daily. The Web site is user-friendly and includes the ability to pay traffic citations; get passport applications; explore employment opportunities; access public, court and official records; and check or pay child support. With the price of fuel these days, online access to this information is a real money saver! No more trips to the Collier County Court House to search through records to, hopefully, retrieve a copy of a “Satisfaction of Mortgage” from the last time you refinanced. With just a few simple clicks, you can print any document on your own home computer.

Start thinking about this upcoming evening. What has been on your mind? What has you stumped about how our county government works? At the seminar, which will be held at 6 p.m., in the community room at Marco Community Bank, Dwight Brock will answer your questions. He’s looking forward to meeting you.

He’ll also give a brief but informative overview of the official Web site. After the presentation, you’ll be a pro, maneuvering through collierclerk.com as if you worked for the Clerk’s office!

The Marco Island Civic Association is pleased to work with the Collier County Clerk of Court’s office to offer this presentation that every taxpayer on Marco Island should see and hear.

For further information on this seminar or Residents’ Beach and MICA membership, please call the MICA office at 642-7778.
