When you’re good, you’re good.

Cocomo’s took a year off from playing in the City Men’s Softball League after tearing up their opponents and winning the championship.

They came back this year to win the regular season and playoff titles.

In the semifinals of the playoffs Cocomo’s kept Mel’s Almost Famous, winning 12-4.

Scott Gibbs led the team with three hits, while Niels Stone, Dave Rice Jr. and Dan Noyes added two hits each. Jeff Nagel and JP Nachef knocked out two hits each for Mel’s.

Nacho Mama’s the second-place finisher in the regular season, won the other semifinal game, downing St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 10-4. Steve Pahr, Zach Luetkemeyer, Santo Gentile and Vip Grover all had two hits each for Nacho Mama’s, while Donny Montroy led St. Mark’s with three hits.

In the title game Rich Busch, Kevin Hennings and Neil Alberry slammed out two hits each to lead Cocomo’s. Nacho Mama’s big bats were Tony Olivero and Pahr with two hits each.

“It was a great welcome back for Cocomo’s,” said Tony Sans, league coordinator. “All the teams played hard all season.”

He also saluted long-time scorekeeper Georgie Bennett’s efforts.

“She faced immense adversity in losing her husband Donald this season and continued doing an excellent job,” he said.

Why won't Cocomo's play any of the Men's Senior Softball Teams? I think it's pretty obvious-- Does the word chicken ring a bell?
