Your News: Shelter Striders "Walk for the Way"

The Shelter for Abused Women & Children is pleased to join individuals, businesses and organizations for the United Way of Collier County’s third annual Walk for the Way: Caring Begins… One Step at a Time event on Saturday, September 27, 2008, starting at 8:00 a.m., at North Collier Regional Park located at 15000 Livingston Road, Naples.

The Shelter Striders will join teams from across the area walking in support of more than two dozen United Way funded social service agencies dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families in Collier County.

“The Shelter for Abused Women & Children is proud to be one of the United Way agencies helping provide life-transforming programs and services to more than 100,000 children, women and men in our community each year,” details Shelter Executive Director Linda Oberhaus.

Walk for the Way: Caring Begins One Step at a Time starts at 8:00 a.m. with Team Check-In. The Walk for the Way starts at 9:00 a.m. and is followed at 10:00 a.m. by a carnival.

The Shelter for Abused Women & Children, Collier County’s state certified domestic violence center, provides programs and services crafted to prevent domestic violence before it begins; advocates for societal changes to end domestic violence in our community; and meets the immediate and long term needs of victims and survivors.

Since 1989, the organization has served more than 46,600 individuals through its innovative programs and services.
