Is it me or is this summer 2008 speeding right by and hurtling right into back to school time?

Here at the Greater Marco YMCA it’s week 7 of summer camp (July 14). Summer camp is half over already!

“Holidaze” was the theme last week for the K to second grade campers and each day was a different holiday. Monday was Fourth of July celebration with everyone wearing red, white and blue. Tuesday, we celebrated Christmas and wore red and green. Wednesday was Valentine’s Day and everyone wore pink, red or white and Thursday was Halloween again and the campers wore their favorite costumes. Activities were planned around each day’s theme and everyone had a great time. Field trips during the week included the Aquatic Center, Hollywood 20, Shy Wolf Sanctuary and a Mock Wedding was held on Wednesday afternoon at the Airnasium. I got to play DJ for this event. It was just like a real wedding complete with ceremony and reception. The food was yummy!

Next week’s themes are “Wide World of Disney” for the K to second grade campers and “The Show Must Go On” for the third to sixth graders. Activities will be planned around the themes.

Field trips for the week include the Aquatic Center and Park, King Richards Family Park in Naples and bowling for both camps. Registration continues for the Specialty Camps.

On the other hand, more than 80 aerobic programs are held at the “Y.” Programs schedules are listed in the Out & About section, and also available at the “Y.”

Check out all the information about the Greater Marco “Y” online at www.marcoislandymca.org.

See you at the “Y.”
