Cocomo’s has clinched the Men’s City Softball League Championship.
With its win over Sand Bar, 18-5, on Thursday, Cocomo’s moved its record to 15-2.
Second-place Nacho Mama’s is two games back with only one game to play.
Mark Stillwagon and Mike Watkins each had four hits, with Watkins smacking a home run to lead Cocomo’s. Teammates Curt Witthoff contributed three hits, while Niels Stone, Dave Rice Jr., Brian Day and Rich Busch added two hits, with Day also hitting a home run.
Dean Starr knocked out two hits to lead Sand Bar.
In a hitting barrage, Capt. Brien’s downed DaVinci’s, 18-5.
Jerry Bonfitto and Ricky Hart pounded out four hits, Kevin Sullivan, three hits and Joe Valencic, Liam Dillon and Jim Bonfitto added two hits each for Capt. Brien’s. Mike Radlovacki, Mike Graczyk and Joe DiScuillo had two hits each for DaVinci’s.
St. Mark’s Episcopal Church clobbered Almost Famous Mel’s, 17-4.
Mark Canaday and Mike Vanderjagt slammed three hits each, while Donny Montroy and Patrick Baldwin chipped in two hits each for St. Mark’s. Jamie Stewart led Mel’s with two hits.
Final regular-season games on Thursday pit Nacho Mama’s against DaVinci’s at 6, St. Mark’s and Cocomo’s at 7:15 and Sand Bar against Capt. Brien’s at 7:30.
The standings show Cocomo’s at 15-2, Nacho Mama’s, 12-4, St. Mark’s, 10-6, Mel’s and DaVinci’s, 6-10, Capt. Brien’s, 5-12 and Sand Bar, 3-13.
