Crime, fires and traffic accidents were few in number on Thanksgiving across Southwest Florida.
“It’s been relatively peaceful,” Florida Highway Patrol Lt. John Tower said.
Tower said Friiday may be a bit hectic with all the shoppers out for bargains, which in the past has created traffic problems in places.
FHP responded to the usual minor traffic crashes Thursday, he said.
Among other agencies, it was a relatively quiet day for south Lee authorities and public servants.
It was a similar story in Collier County.
Around 4:45 p.m. Thursday, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of an unidentified dead woman in East Naples.
Authorities are conducting a death investigation of the woman’s body found in the 2000 block of Cascades Drive, but deputies don’t suspect foul play, said Kristi Lester, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
No further information was available Thursday evening.
Around 7 p.m., Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to a hit-and-run accident that occurred on Collier Boulevard and Mainsail Drive east of Naples.
Sheriff’s officials said one person was injured and a vehicle that struck the victim was being sought Thursday night. No further information was immediately available.
