The “Sunshine Kids” fundraiser, held Nov. 10 in the Lesina Building at Hammock Bay, brought out at least 75 people to participate in a “raffle for the kids.” Tickets for the event included a live band, food catered by Hammock Bay Sports Club and lots of fun.

“It’s mostly supported by our own associates. It was a tough year and we understand everyone could not contribute as much as they did in the past. Considering that, we’re looking to next year to make it even bigger and better,” said George Percel, managing broker, Prudential Florida WCI Realty.

Hammock Bay donated this year’s venue, food and the first raffle prize, to include one full year membership to the club. Tim and Denise Rose, who are new to the area, were the lucky winners. Dave Kocourek won the second prize, compliments of Marco Island Marriott Resort and Spa. Debi Johnson donated a $2,500 diamond pendant and organized a drawing for it, which raised nearly $1,000 for the kids.

Martha Erickson was the winner of a diamond pendant during the 2007 fundraiser for Sunshine Kids held on November 10 at Hammock Bay. Joe Kelly is picture here with her, viewing the prize.

“I was involved with the American Cancer Society for a long time. Cancer is something that affects most every family. Anything we can do to help kids through that difficult time is a great opportunity,” Percel explained.

The Prudential Corporation has taken on Sunshine Kids nationally as its annual charity. Each branch does its own fundraiser and Prudential FL WCI has been the leading producer in the country, making the most money for kids with cancer in 2005 and 2006. Results for this year are pending.
