ArtQuest 2008 unveilings
Crowds gathered Thursday, November 15, for the unveiling of art pieces around Marco Island. The event was part of ArtQuest 2008 presented by The Marco Island Foundation for the Arts.
The foundation and its supporters have not only brought more culture and notoriety to Marco Island, ArtQuest allows the community to continue to be defined as many of its inhabitants and visitors have already defined the Island: a paradise.
After securing its ArtQuest 2008 artists and sculptures and keeping them secret for some time, Marco Island Foundation for the Arts and its sponsors unveiled all of the sculptural gems with parties and panache Thursday at its sponsors chosen locations. ArtQuest 2008 continues with various celebrations throughout the season: Guided tours of the sculptures are scheduled to be held Jan. 22 and Feb. 26. The ArtQuest 2008 Scavenger Hunt is scheduled to be held March 29.
ArtQuest 2008 pamphlets, which can be found at the sponsors’ locations, or at the Marco Island Foundation for the Arts’ office at The Esplanade, features a map and ballot for the People’s Choice award and other information. Voters are also eligible for a $300 savings bond, courtesy of Orion Bank, the People’s Choice sponsor.
The Marco Island Foundation for the Arts’ success of its bi-annual ArtQuest celebration and its new office space has ensured the foundation’s ability to grow. But its potential can’t be accomplished without the continued support of its accomplished volunteers.
