Marco Island residents are encouraged to bring leftover and unused medicines to Mackle Park this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program, referred to as “Operation Medicine Cabinet,” is brought to the community by Drug Free Collier, formerly known as the Substance Abuse Coalition of Collier County.
According to Drug Free Collier Board Member, Marta Coburn M.D., “Improper disposal of prescription medications, such as flushing or disposing of them in the trash, will result in harm to humans and pets. In fact, improper disposal of medications can even cause contamination to Florida’s aquatic environment.”
