It’s only the beginning: Marco Eagle gets new redesign

Change. Isaac Asimov, who many suspect was paraphrasing Greek philosopher Heraclitus, said that its life’s only constant. Roman poet Ovid produced a classic thematic handling of the subject called “Metamorphoses.”

The team behind this newspaper has honored the Greeks and Romans well today as your Marco Eagle has undergone its own metamorphosis. But unlike the STRP and Collier Blvd. reconstruction, this change doesn’t come with a price tag or inconvenience attached.

As you thumb through Wednesday’s issue, you’ll find that the pages have a cleaner, more contemporary feel that’s much easier to navigate than the four-way stop at Bald Eagle or the previous design of the Marco Eagle. But don’t take our word for it. Have a look-see. Then go to marconews.com and tell us what you think — because your opinion is important to us.

We ushered in this season of change last week as Chris Doyle was named the new publisher of E.W. Scripps area newspapers, including the Naples Daily News and the Marco Eagle. That same day, I was also honored to assume the role of editor for the Eagle. But our season of change is far from over. Watch for more improvements in content and design, both with the print edition and at marconews.com.
