What a great event.
What a great game.
What a great experience.
We could keep going on and on, but our readers get the drift. Friday night’s football game with Naples High School hosting Greenwich (Conn.) High School was by any and all measures one for the record books.
The intensity amid good sportsmanship on the field as well as in the packed grandstands was just about as good as it gets. With concern about state rankings set aside by both teams for this one game, jealousies gave way to quality football.
The Connecticut team and fans were terrific guests, and the Naples High School community — reaching epic proportions for the occasion — was a gracious host.
Naples’ big victory provided a nice finishing touch.
Congratulations to everybody who had anything to do with this. Even the weatherman played a helpful role.
It’s too bad that Friday’s game didn’t mark the beginning of an annual home-and-away series.
Still, the community is uplifted by what did happen. Thanks for the memories.
