Toll feasibility study expected to delay traffic on North Collier

STORY TOOLS

Look for traffic delays on North Collier Boulevard at Barfield Drive through Monday. The delays may last after the 5 p.m. rush hour.

A consulting firm for the Collier County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) will be conducting a survey of drivers for the Judge S.S. Jolley Bridge Toll Study. Handouts will be given to drivers at the intersection.

The forms ask that drivers fill out information related to where they were driving from and to. The purpose of the study is to find out the driving routes of people and their opinions on a toll for the bridge.

The MPO is studying a possible toll to help pay for a new four-lane bridge.

Monday at 5 p.m., a meeting will be held for citizens to also voice their opinions on the new bridge and a toll. The meeting will be held in the community room at Mackle Park.

For more information, call Connie Dean with the MPO at 774-8192 or 774-8365.

island is packed with folks through easter...traffic is at an all time high....and now minozzi's going to create more traffic problems handing out a stupid survey....mike, please mail the survey out to the residents...don't bother with handing them to visitors because they probably won't be back after sitting in traffic to come over the bridge.

Better yet, put a survey sheet in the paper with an address to send it to. Ask one question, do you want to pay a toll? Yes or No

what is there that we need to survey? Toll equals money for bridge. No toll equals no money for bridge. Sanibel has a toll, Boca Grand has a toll and Cape Coral has a toll. Why shouldn't we? Make the toll $5 or $10 and we eliminate alot of the traffic. This is a good thing. Survey is a WASTE of money.

Maybe while they are doing that survey they can do a STRP survey. These people walking on Collier Blvd at rush hour during the mad rush for everyone to get off the island will be run down.

Survey is a marketing ploy. No opinion is solicited. They just want your address and phone number so they can send you the bags that joeywalnuts is giving them. Trash the survey until the offer you one that relevant.

The bridge belongs to the state of Florida, not Marco Island. It's up to the state to build another bridge, (if Needed) not the residents of Marco Island!
