Here’s a great chance for your children to use their imaginations and be creative. The Marco Island Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with the Art League of Marco Island to present the Music Makers Art and Music Camp for rising fourth through eighth grade children.
"They get to build and design their own musical instrument and then learn how to play it afterwards," said Mindy Matusiak, recreation program supervisor for the parks and recreation department. "It’s a neat music camp."
Your child will learn how to build a cardboard instrument from a kit and decorate it, apply the strings and play basic music chords.
Session 1 begins Monday (through June 29) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the Art League on Winterberry Drive east of S. Collier Boulevard.
Session 2 begins July 23 and ends July 27, also from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Each session costs $115 for residents and $138 for non-residents. The kit and materials are included in the fee.
You can pre-registration by calling the parks and recreation department at 642-0575.
