She packed her belongings, with her cats Pixie and Dixie sneaking into cardboard boxes for naps whenever they found one vacant for long enough. “A legend is leaving Goodland today,” said Cecelia’s daughter Linda Weeks Rose, as she helped her mother gather her things and move to Kentucky to be closer to family.

The robbery occurred around 9:30 a.m. outside the front door of the Wachovia Bank at 12609 U.S. 41 E. The bank is by the Eagle Creek Shops near the Collier Boulevard turn-off to Marco Island, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office reported.

What started out as a healthy season for the sea turtles may have been greatly damaged by tropical storm Fay, the “turtle lady” said.
